We are a family of ten. Our eldest child is twenty-two, and our youngest is six and a half years old.
The expenses entailed in a large family are many; some are constant, but others are unexpected. As a result of a childhood illness, our sixteen-year-old son Bni has been handicapped in his right leg since he was six years old. He underwent five surgeries, but continues to limp and has difficulties dressing and bathing. He wears special shoes, one of which is taller than the other. He travels to school in a special car service. The most recent surgery was performed in order to lengthen the leg. He spent nearly a year in Arlozorov Hospital, and the medical treatments have not yet been completed. In the month of August, we will return for a follow-up check, as the doctors believe that he may require an additional operation. Due to new policies instituted by the National Insurance Institute, we have not received a handicapped grant since September 1, 2004, which has made the financial aspect of caring for our son even more difficult. In addition, our nineteen year old daughter has a terrible stutter. We sent her for therapy sessions in Machon Hadim, but the therapy was unsuccessfully. She was evaluated by Mrs. Tuschiner of Leumit Health Clinic. Our daughter is currently studying to be a kindergarten teacher. She sincerely desires to acquire a profession for life and fears that she will not be accepted due to her speech impediment. The stutter is also very difficult for her on a day-to-day basis. Our daughter is also of marriageable age, but she is scared to begin because of her stutter. We can not afford to cover the tremendous costs of the intensive speech therapy that she requires. She is a modest, good girl and she deserves only the best... Please help us provide her with the therapy that she so desperately needs... .
